Jayco Off Grid Living

If your wanting to upgrade your caravans 12v system to be more suited to ‘off grid’ living, Hi Tec Auto Elec has you covered

This Jayco Journey caravan came in with the requirement to be able to pull up anywhere and enjoy the comforts the caravan has to offer, both 12 volt and 240 volt

After discussing with the customer their needs & wants, we set out the plan for what was going to be fitted

  • 2 x PowerPaul Australia Scout 280ah Lithium Battiers ( 250amp continuous discharge rating and 125amp continuous charge rating

  • Redarc 50A DCDC charger

  • 5 x Redarc 180W solar panels to be roof mounted

  • Victron Energy 12/3000 Inverter charger

  • Victron Energy 150/70 Solar controller & 100/50 Solar Controller

  • Victron Energy Cerbo GX

  • Victron Energy Touch50

  • Victron SmartShunt

Combining these quality products meant the caravan had 560AH of usable lithium batteries with multiple charging sources. The Redarc BCDC providing 50amps of charge into the batteries while travelling between destinations, 900W of roof mounted solar panels to keep the batteries topped up while enjoying the scenery and the Victron Inverter charging allowing 100amps of charging while connected to mains power but also serving the purpose of a 3000W inverter to make all the 240v accessories usable during free camping- even the AirCommand air conditioning unit for those hot summer days.

The Victron Touch50 paired with the SmartShunt means the owners can keep an eye on all inputs and outputs and get an accurate reading of the remaining capacity of their batteries
